Western Conference Finals Set For Next Weekend

Colorado Springs, CO – The Colorado Springs Thunder put an end to the Mile High Miners season last weekend as they swept the third seed in the best-of-three series. The Miners came off their best regular season in its existence and will be a big contender again next year as they improve year after year.

Now the Thunder looks ahead to next weekend and a battle with their bitter rival, the Parker Prowlers. The Prowlers come into the weekend as a big favorite and a team looking to defend last year’s Conference Championship. These two teams have faced each other 8 times with the Prowlers coming out with a 5-2-1 record and taking 3 of the 4 at their home, Parker Fieldhouse. Next weekend’s games will again be in their barn and they believe that suits them well. “Our place is a bit bigger than the Arena in the Springs and we believe that helps us going into this weekend. We have some younger legs and some guys that can fly, we are right where we want to be,” said head coach John Bovee.

Next weekend’s series we be a best of five contest with games 1 & 2 (8&9pm) on Saturday night, January 26 and a possible 3, 4, and 5 (2, 3, & 4pm) on Sunday. All games, including the division’s Minor playoffs, will be held at the Parker Fieldhouse in Parker, CO. These two teams are looking to head to Pittsburgh, PA during the last weekend of February to represent the west at the PIHA Finals.
