Parker, CO – The Parker Prowlers sank their claws into first place with a big weekend on the road in the Rockies, scoring 33 goals and giving up only one on the road trips to Lakewood and Fort Collins. The Prowlers had little trouble scoring goals over the weekend with the whole team getting onto the score sheet. Led by sniper Kyle Phelps and captain Brian Rogers the team played very unselfish with every one getting in on the scoring.
With 3 sets of brothers on the team sometimes it becomes a family affair. The Ingrum’s were unable to make the trips but both the Bates brothers and the Bovee brothers were big contributors, not only on the score sheet but in the defensive end. Defensive anchors Jordan Bateman and Cody Bovee along with team assist leader JT Bovee were celebrating with goalies Robb Woods and Cory Walters as they had three shutouts over the weekend.
Coach Bovee was most impressed with the teams disciplined and unselfish play. “Our whole team played great defense, from forwards CJ Bateman, Frank Dwyer and Jeff Rapella to stand in defenseman Jeff Carlo and Nick Vehanen, who have all done a great job of playing the roles they have been asked to all year” said Bovee.
Coach Bovee added “the thing that excites me the most about where the team is right now is the chemistry. We seem to be playing better as a team with every game, and that’s been our goal all year.
If we continue to play with both discipline and composure, things coach Estes and I stress continually, then I feel that with continued hard work we have a chance to hold on to first seed and get a bye in the playoffs, which would be nice.”
The Prowlers are starting to look like they might be the favorites to repeat in the Rocky Mountain Division but they need to continue their balanced play with tests at home from the Minors and the Catz upcoming. The Big show down with the perennial power house from the Rockies, the Thunder, might just determine who gets a bye in the playoffs. Time will tell.
