The PIHA opened up the 2012-2013 season at the 422 Sportsplex in Pottstown on the weekend of September 8 & 9. The weekend featured 52 games (26 double headers) which included all of the Eastern Conference Pro and Minor teams.

We are happy to welcome the new teams into the league, in the Minor Division, New Jersey Braves (Tab Ramos Sports Center), Long Island 495ers (Skate Safe America), New Jersey Fanatics (Metuchen Sportsplex) along with a second minor team from Rapid Fire Arena, the Long Island Snipers. In our Pro Division, we welcome the Philadelphia Brawlers who are going to be playing their entire schedule on the road this season. I had a chance to catch up with JJ Fichter, who has been organizing the squad and his response to all road games was this; “Well, the reason for having all our games on the road this season, is that our team is compiled of players from all over the area. They all play at different rinks. We feel that we can play no matter where we play. Remember, no matter what rink you play on, the game is still the same”.

Long time PIHA Owner/General Manager Jason Muro of the Sting had this to say about the 2012-2013 season; “It’s good to see the league expand, even if it is a few additional teams. I am happy that we have 2 pro and 2 minor teams from our facility. Overall I am happy with the progress that PIHA has made over the last couple of seasons and would like to see even more come of it”.

After a weekend where 52 sets of games were played, let’s just say we are happy that hockey is back in the PIHA and we are excited for yet another season!  Come out and check it out!
