I-83 Series Revived

Colorado Springs, CO – Nothing has changed in the Prowlers/Thunder rivalry over the year as the two battled for early season points this past Saturday. The Thunder hosted the 2012 Division Champs at their home in Colorado Springs last Saturday night and the teams did not disappoint.

Thunder Defenseman Facu Vadra

Game 1 was a barn burner as the Thunder scored with the extra attacker on and just seconds left to tie the game. But Prowler youngster Kyle Phelps made a spectacular move around a Thunder defenseman and then roofed one on Dan Lamb for the game winner. “Phelpsy” is turning into one of the premier players in the division and pulled off one of the nicest goals you will see all year.

Game 2 was no let down as the teams went back and forth in front of the big crowd at CET Arena. CJ Yoder, yep the old man is still playing, led off the scoring and added an assist on a power play goal by Zach Blake to put the Thunder up early in the first. The teams swapped goals in the second to put the final score at 3-1 for the home squad. “Both teams played well tonight and I think we both realize every night is going to be a battle between us. We are looking forward to seeing them again and getting better as we move forward. We are pleased our veterans played well and although it was their first night at this level, Vadra and Navarro contributed. Hopefully we can start to come together,” commented co-coach Larry Holmes.
