Aviators, Empire, Outbackers, and Surfers are names that will soon be common conversation within the PIHA community. These four organizations will be joining the league’s semipro division in 2013-2014 with the winner attending the Finals in Colorado in February.
The division’s free agent camps are set for the end of August with games beginning in mid-September. All division games will be played in the well-known Brazilian town of Sertãozinho. The town’s government has stepped up and done a tremendous job supporting the project and is looking forward to finally getting the hockey started. The Sertãozinho Center has a capacity of over 2500 seats along with 2 Pro style locker rooms, 4 other locker rooms, a beautiful hard wood floor (perfect for inline hockey) and is set up for TV and live Internet coverage.
League officials believe the division is just a start towards several South American organizations. We are looking forward to this coming year and bringing a professional league to South America. The talent in Brasil is very good and seems to grow each year,” mentioned PIHA President, CJ Yoder.
